The YF-23 was a prototype developed by Northrop and McDonnell Douglas as a possible replacement for the F-15 Eagle. Two prototypes were built, the first, a gray prototype unofficially dubbed the "Gray Ghost" which flew on August 27, 1990, and the second, a black prototype referred to as the "Black Widow II", which flew on October 26, 1990. The YF-23 had a maximum speed of Mach 2, service ceiling of 65,000 feet and range of 750 miles. Both of these prototypes were put into secure storage at Edwards AFB in California. This model is in precision polymer to exacting specifications. It is hand painted, and comes fully assembled with removable desk stand.
